Shirokiya was founded about three hundred years ago (1662) as a "Kimono Shop". This picture was painted by Kunisada (one of the famous Ukiyoe and the picture shows an apparence of Shirokiya in Kaei and Ansei period. Since 1918 it has been developed into a modern departnment store.
